In effect from October 11, 2026
The short version
- Most of what you write in the House stays on your own device: your Market List, your journal in The Quiet Work, your Daily Arrival.
- We ask for your email only when something needs it: a House Key, our letters, a gift from the Library, or a note you send us.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Square takes payments. We never see your card number.
- You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at hello@houseofladore.com.
Who we are
House of LaDore is owned and operated by its founder, Dorthy Huddleston, CBSP. This page covers houseofladore.com and the rooms inside it. In it, “the House,” “we” and “us” mean House of LaDore. To reach us about anything here, write to hello@houseofladore.com.
What the House collects, room by room
The House Key
- Your email address. When you ask for your private door, we use your email to send the link and to check with Square that your Key is active. The link works for one hour.
- Payment. You pay on Square’s checkout page. Square holds your name, card and billing details under its own privacy policy. We receive confirmation that a Key was bought, the amount and the date.
- Staying signed in. A cookie keeps your door open on your device for up to 90 days, so you are not asked for a link each visit.
- Your request allowance. We keep a count of the styling requests your Key has used each month. The count is filed under a scrambled form of your email, not the address itself.
- Invited guests. If we invite you into the House without a purchase, we keep your email and the date your access ends.
Ask the House
- What you tell the room. The occasion, size, budget, month and place you give, your style preferences, and what you do and do not want. We also keep which pieces and brands the House showed you, your answer when it asks whether it got it right, and any brands you tell us you would like to see.
- How it is kept. Without your name or email. We use it to see where the wardrobe is thin and to choose better pieces.
- Pictures and links. Pictures of the pieces load from the retailers’ own websites, and shopping links take you to those retailers. They receive what any website receives from a visitor, such as your IP address, and their own privacy policies apply.
The Market List
- Your list stays with you. Your items, budget, notes, meal plan and reminders are saved on your own device.
- Encrypted Sync, if you turn it on. Your list is locked on your device before it is sent, and we store only the locked copy. We cannot read it. Your Sync Code is the key, so keep it private.
- What happens when you use Kroger in the Market List is described under Kroger.
The Quiet Work and the Library
- Your journal. Entries are encrypted in your browser before they are saved. With Encrypted Sync on, we store only the encrypted journal and cannot read it. If you lose your passphrase or Sync Code, we cannot recover your writing for you.
- The complimentary edition. When you ask for it, we use your first name and email to send it and to add you to our letters. You can unsubscribe from any letter.
- The Daily Arrival. What you write there stays on your device.
Letters, the Guest Book and correspondence
- Our letters. If you subscribe, we hold your email, and your first name if you gave it, to send them. Every letter has an unsubscribe link.
- A note to the House. The correspondence form asks for your name, email, subject and message, your favorite room if you wish, and whether we may share your words. We use it to reply. We share a note publicly only if you said we may.
- The Guest Book. You leave initials and a short message. It appears on the wall only if you tick the box allowing it, and after the House has read it.
The Shop
Orders are placed through our shop partners, who collect your payment and shipping details under their own policies. We and our print studio receive what is needed to make and send your order: your name, address and what you bought.
The House Pour
We ask you to confirm that you are 21 or older. Your answer is remembered on your device only.
Kroger and the Market List
- Finding your store and products. When you search, the House sends the ZIP code or city and the product words you typed to Kroger, and shows you what Kroger returns. We do not send your name or email.
- Connecting your Kroger account. This is your choice. You sign in on Kroger’s own site, and we never see your Kroger password. Kroger gives the House a permission token, which we store encrypted, so the House can add the items you choose to your Kroger cart. A cookie remembers the connection on your device for up to 30 days.
- What we send to your cart. Only the products you select and their quantities. Nothing is bought until you check out with Kroger.
- Disconnecting. Choose Disconnect in the Market List at any time and we delete the token.
Product information and prices shown from Kroger are provided by Kroger. House of LaDore is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Kroger. Kroger’s own privacy policy covers what you do on Kroger’s site and in your Kroger account.
Counts and advertising
- The House’s own counts. We count that a room was visited or a feature was used, and the kind of place a visit began, such as a search engine, Facebook or one of our own letters. Each count is a short label and an id that lasts only for that visit. It holds no name, email, IP address or anything you typed.
- Google Analytics. On most pages, Google Analytics tells us how many people visit and which pages they read. In the Market List it records that a feature was used, never what is on your list.
- The Meta Pixel. On our public pages, the Meta Pixel tells Meta that a page was viewed or a House Key checkout was started, so we can measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. It is not loaded in the private rooms, the Market List, The Quiet Work journal or the Daily Arrival. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, it is not loaded at all.
- When a House Key is bought. We tell Meta that a purchase happened: the amount, the time, your IP address and browser type, and Meta’s cookie identifiers if your browser has them. We do not send your email address.
- Paid links. Some shopping links are paid links. As an Amazon Associate, House of LaDore earns from qualifying purchases. It does not change what the House chooses.
Cookies and what is saved on your device
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| House Key cookie | Keeps your private door open | Up to 90 days |
| Kroger connection cookie | Remembers that you connected Kroger | Up to 30 days, or until you disconnect |
| Google Analytics cookies | Counting visits | Set by Google |
| Meta cookies | Measuring our advertising, on public pages only | Set by Meta |
| Saved on your device | Your Market List, journal, Daily Arrival and small choices such as your 21 and over answer | Until you clear them |
You can clear cookies and saved data in your browser’s settings. Clearing them removes a Market List or journal that is saved only on that device, so export or sync first if you want to keep it.
Who helps us run the House
We share information only with the services that need it to do their part, and only that part:
- Our website host, which delivers the pages and stores the encrypted and anonymous records described above. Like any host, it handles your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and keep the site safe.
- Square, which takes payment for the House Key and tells us whether a Key is active.
- Our email and newsletter services, which deliver the private door email and our letters.
- Kroger, when you use Kroger in the Market List.
- Google and Meta, for the counts and advertising measurement described above.
- Amazon and other retailers, when you follow a shopping link.
- Our shop partners and print studio, who take, make and send orders.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the House and its guests.
Your choices
- Ask what we hold, or ask us to remove it. Write to hello@houseofladore.com and we will take care of it promptly. What you tell Ask the House is kept without your name or email, so it was never tied to you in the first place.
- Leave our letters whenever you like. Every letter has an unsubscribe link.
- Disconnect Kroger or turn off sync at any time. Both are right in the Market List.
- Prefer not to be counted for advertising? Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser and the House will not load Meta’s pixel for you.
- End your House Key. Write to us and we will close it for you.
How long we keep things, and how we protect them
We keep your email for as long as you hold a House Key or receive our letters, and delete it when you ask. Anonymous counts and Ask the House records are kept so the House can learn over time. Lists and journals you sync are stored only in encrypted form, and Kroger tokens are encrypted. No website can promise perfect security, but we collect little and lock what matters.
Children
The House is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The House Pour is for guests 21 and older.
Changes to this page
If we change how the House handles your information, we will update this page and its date. If the change is significant, we will say so in the House or in a letter.
